Session Structure and Fees
Each therapy session is 50 minutes in duration. My fees are set on a flexible scale of £60-£80 per session. You are invited to choose the fee within this range that is affordable for you, and this amount will remain consistent throughout our work together.
Fees are payable by PayPal (Friends and Family), bank transfer, or cash on the day of your session. You have the flexibility to pay before each session, or on a weekly or monthly basis, whichever best suits your circumstances. Full payment details will be provided prior to our first session.
Getting Started: The Assessment Session
My approach begins with an assessment session, which is charged at the standard rate but carries no obligation to continue. This initial meeting offers a valuable opportunity for us to connect. Towards the end of this session, we will discuss your experience and whether you feel comfortable and ready to proceed with ongoing therapy.
If we decide to work together, we will initially commit to blocks of six sessions, with a review at the fourth week. This allows us to regularly check in on your progress and ensure the therapy remains effective for you. This block arrangement will continue until you feel ready to conclude our work. Please understand that the total number of sessions needed varies greatly from person to person, as everyone’s journey is unique.
Cancellations and Absences
At the start of each six-week block, we will discuss any planned absences, such as holidays or pre-scheduled health appointments. These pre-notified absences will be excused and not charged. However, for other missed sessions, the full fee will apply, as this time is specifically allocated for you and cannot be offered to another client. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and I am committed to flexibility; I will always endeavour to rearrange appointments where possible, provided another client’s schedule allows, to ensure you don’t miss out on your valuable therapy time.
The assessment session is designed to give you a chance to meet with me and determine if you feel I am the right therapist for you. Equally, it allows me to understand the difficulties that have brought you to therapy and ensure that I can offer support within my areas of competence.
Couples Therapy: Supporting Your Relationship Journey
Session Structure and Fees
Each couples therapy session lasts 50 minutes. My fees range from £75 to £95 per session, and together, you’ll choose the amount that’s affordable for you. This chosen fee will remain consistent throughout our time working together. Fees are payable via PayPal (Friends and Family) in advance of each session, either weekly or monthly, whichever suits your preference.
Getting Started: The Assessment Process
My process begins with an assessment session, which is charged at the agreed rate but carries no obligation to continue. Towards the end of this session, we’ll discuss how you both felt and whether you’d like to proceed with ongoing therapy.
If you decide to continue, we’ll initially commit to 12 sessions, with a review at week 8. Following this, sessions will continue in 6-week blocks until you both feel ready to conclude our work. It’s important to understand that the number of sessions needed varies for every couple, as each relationship journey is unique. To start, I’ll meet with each of you individually twice before we begin our joint sessions for the remainder of the initial block.
Cancellations and Absences
At the beginning of each new block of sessions, we’ll discuss any planned absences, such as holidays or health appointments. These pre-arranged absences will be excused and not charged. However, for other missed sessions, the full fee will apply, as that time is specifically reserved for you and cannot be offered to another client. I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, and I’m flexible; I’ll always do my best to rearrange appointments if other clients’ schedules allow, to ensure you don’t miss out on your valuable therapy time.
Understanding Couples Therapy
Couples therapy differs from individual therapy in that the focus is on your relationship as a whole, rather than solely on the client-therapist relationship. While therapy doesn’t guarantee that all differences will be resolved, or that relationships will always stay together, it can provide invaluable support.
Sometimes, one or both partners may already be considering ending the relationship and use these sessions as a way of “giving it one last shot” before parting ways. In such cases, therapy can help you both communicate more effectively, ensuring that both parties feel heard. It can also support couples in separating amicably, making the process less pressured and painful by enabling open communication of thoughts, feelings, and needs.
In many instances, therapy can significantly strengthen your relationship by providing a safe space to discuss differences and find solutions to ongoing problems. It’s crucial to understand that behaviours are often driven by unfulfilled needs, sometimes outside of our conscious awareness. Therapy can help identify these underlying needs and support communication to ensure they are understood and met in healthier ways, rather than resorting to inappropriate behaviours.
Taking the Next Step
If this approach resonates with you, I’d be happy to book you in for an assessment session. As mentioned, this initial meeting gives you both the opportunity to meet with me and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. Equally, it allows me to understand the difficulties that have brought you to therapy and assess that I can provide effective support within my areas of expertise.
